BEST DRESSED WINDOWS FOR THE QUEEN
New Milton Town Council, under its brand Go New Milton, has joined up with Lions Club of New Milton, and local businesses Station Financial and GD Print Ltd, to launch the Best Dressed Window Display Competition in celebration of Her Majesty the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
This follows on from the popularity of the annual New Milton Best Dressed Window Competition held at Christmas, which sees shopfronts decorated with Christmas cheer, and winners awarded for their creative efforts. New Milton shops are now being invited to enter their shopfronts, appropriately decorated to complement the Platinum Jubilee bunting and floral displays in town.
Judging will take place over the Platinum Bank Holiday weekend up to 6th June. The judging panel include New Milton Town Mayor, Cllr Keith Craze, Cllr Valya Schooling, and President of New Milton Lions, Steve Merrifield.
Most importantly the fourth judge will be the public who are being asked to cast their vote as well.
The Lions-led Community Jubilee Event, taking place on 3 & 4 June on New Milton Recreation Ground, will see many residents and visitors coming together in celebration and everyone is encouraged to take part in the judging and cast their votes when they visit. This can be done online at https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/XH3NHLG or pick up a paper copy from New Milton Town Hall, Memorial Centre and Library.
Judges will look at the displays noting originality and creativity, and how well the display has embraced the theme of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, and of course, who has got the WOW factor!
The winners of the competition will be announced at the Afternoon of Music being held on Sunday 3 July on New Milton Recreation Ground. The worthy winners will receive their engraved glass trophies from the judges, followed by local musicians, The Blue Tides Band, performing from 2-4pm for residents and visitors to enjoy free of charge. Everyone welcome!
New Milton Town Mayor, Cllr Keith Craze, said “We are looking forward to celebrating Her Majesty the Queen’s 70th anniversary of her reign as British Monarch, it really is a special time for everyone. The window display competition will complement the town’s flags and floral displays, as well as lift the spirits of our residents and visitors to the town over the Bank Holiday weekend. I’m really looking forward to celebrating with all our creative winners!”
