The New Milton Citizen of the Year Award 2022/23 was announced by New Milton Town Mayor, Cllr Keith Craze, at the Annual Town’s Meeting last week.

 

The Mayor took great pleasure in presenting a Citizen of the Year glass trophy to the worthy winners Sally and Rick Coombe who were nominated for their amazing support in fund-raising nearly £20,000 over the last 15 years for the Scarf New Forest charity SCARF – Supporting Children with Additional Needs, Relatives and Friends

 

Gary Morgan, Chairman of the Scarf New Forest charity, said “We know that Rick and Sally have put so much work into raising this money for Scarf over these years, and they have raised awareness of Scarf to others in the area.  We really appreciate all that they have done for Scarf and feel that they thoroughly deserve recognition for the work they have done.”

 

The Town Mayor was also delighted to announce Edyth Shinn as winner of the Young Person of the Year award in recognition of her kind and caring nature befriending elderly neighbours locally. And a Certificate of Commendation was presented to Valery Baker, for her dedication to litter-picking in New Milton.

 

The Town Mayor applauded continued efforts and unwavering support for his nominated charities Scarf New Forest and Forest Arts Parkinson’s Dance who both provided incredible benefits to their membership groups.

 

The Annual Towns Meeting concluded with guest speaker Clive McNish, General Manager of the Chewton Glen Hotel who provided an entertaining recollection of his career working in hospitality around the world.
