New Milton Town Mayor, Cllr Alvin Reid, hosted a well-attended Annual Carol Service at St Mary Magdalene Church, New Milton, on Saturday 7 December 2024.

 

Invited guests and the local congregation, numbering some 150 people, joined the Mayor, Town Councillors and Civic guests, to enjoy special musical performances and Christmas readings.

 

The Tullagh Junior Strings Ensemble performed beautifully under musical direction from Jo Handy, delighting the congregation with a superb selection of Christmas songs, including Little Donkey, inviting keen public participation.

 

An outstanding acapella presentation was delivered by the New Forest Community Choir, conducted by Kirsteen Freer, and 25 choir members performing a repertoire of old and new Christmas songs.

 

The congregation were very appreciative of the service and a total of £388 was collected in the retiring collection.

 

Cllr Alvin Reid said “The Carol Service was an amazing occasion. Thank you to everyone for being so generous for my nominated charity, New Milton Men’s Shed.”

 

He continued “New Milton Men’s Shed is a great place for people to socialise, share skills and knowledge and good times.  For many shedders, they find a renewed sense of purpose, all within a safe and welcoming space.”
