Town Council launches campaign to boost Christmas shopping in New Milton
A festive campaign, featuring a cheery robin, aiming to boost footfall in New Milton’s town centre at Christmas, has been launched by New Milton Town Council, under its Go New Milton brand. The campaign promotes the wide choice of independent shops and cafes in the town, the dazzling Christmas lights, festive activities and free parking opportunities. Shoppers are invited to discover a treasure trove of inspiring gifts, and to socialise with friends and family in any of the variety of cafes and bars in the town and Barton on Sea.
Posters, adverts, banners and flyers, articles in the local press – both print and online, and a catchy radio advert, are used across a wide catchment area. Footfall research undertaken by New Milton Town Council shows New Milton attracts shoppers from far and wide at Christmas time.
The Council have also secured support for the campaign from Yellow Buses who are displaying vinyl decals of the Go New Milton robin on bus windows and displaying posters and flyers in their Bournemouth Travel Shop.
The campaign connects to the Go New Milton website which promotes many of the shops and cafés in the town, to help shoppers plan their visit.
The Town Council took advantage of a Welcome Back Fund offered to local authorities to help encourage shoppers back to the high street and keep the high street Covid-safe.
New Milton’s Town Development Manager, Suna King, said “This is a very special time for New Milton as we go from strength to strength, looking forward to the opening of KFC and Marks & Spencer in the new year.”
