New Forest District Council are making it easier to enjoy local green spaces by improving footpaths and access, providing seating and new bridges, and managing the woodland for wildlife.
Work is due to start at Ashington Park on Monday 11th September and may disrupt access for approximately 6 weeks. Please use an alternative route.
Enhancing local green spaces and walking routes is part of the council’s Green Way recreational mitigation strategy. The Green Way strategy provides improved access to green open spaces for the public, funded by the ‘Community Infrastructure Levy’. The Levy is a charge made on new residential developments and is used to alleviate any infrastructure pressures arising from that development.
These green spaces help to alleviate environmental impacts that are associated with increased visitor numbers and dog-walking on areas containing rare habitats and species within the National Park area.
